Forschungsgebiet:
I work in the field of self-assembled DNA nanostructures. By means of computer programs it is possible to design 100 nm-sized supramolecular DNA structures of any desired shape. Such structures (also called DNA origami) are molecularly addressable in a 3D space with a precision of few nanometers. I am interested in the multivalent chemical modification of such nanoscaled objects for applications in nanomedicine and materials science.
Weitere Interessen:
• (Bio)physical characterization of (modified) DNA-origami by single-molecules techniques
• Modification of DNA-origami with nanoparticles for generation of new materials with peculiar electromagnetic properties
• Development of softwares for assisting in the design of chemically modified DNA origami
